January 19 has been referred to as Blue Monday and

January 19 has been referred to as Blue Monday and it is often described as the “most depressing day of the year.” While the label isn’t scientific, the feelings many experience this time of year are very real. Shorter days, colder weather, financial stress and the pressure of new-year expectations can impact mood, energy and motivation.

A few gentle ways to support your mental health this winter:

• Prioritize rest, nourishment and movement (even small changes matter)
• Spend time outdoors during daylight when possible
• Stay connected with others and avoid isolating
• Seek support early when things feel heavier than usual

Community connection can make a meaningful difference. Programs like Not So Blue Mondays from @braininjurytoronto offer inclusive, social spaces (in person and virtual) to connect, share and feel supported during the winter months.

At Wright Rehab, our Social Workers and Psychotherapists provide compassionate, client-centered support for individuals navigating stress, low mood, life transitions and recovery.

Support can look different for everyone… and that’s okay.
