Personal Support Workers (PSW) help provide personalized rehabilitation support in the home and community after the initial hospital care ends, enabling clients to remain or return to their homes and participate in life as independently as possible.

Our Personal Support service is led by a team of veterans who have been working with brain injury and spinal cord injury clients for a combined 75 years. PSWs help you achieve rehabilitation goals by providing care for day-to-day needs, including:

  • Providing supervision to ensure your safety
  • Offering emotional support and companionship
  • Contributing encouragement in your rehabilitation program
  • Assisting in establishing daily routines and provide structure and continuity for normal daily activities
  • Assisting with simple mobility exercise routines
  • Facilitating personal care such as bathing, grooming, feeding and dressing
  • Maintaining home management assistance including light housekeeping tasks, laundry as well as meal preparation, planning and dietary needs
  • Providing transportation and accompaniment to appointments and community outings
  • Accommodating caregivers with relief

Selecting the right PSW is important. A PSW will be in your home regularly and will become an extension of your family and will work with you to achieve your rehabilitation goals daily. Understanding the importance of a good fit, Wright Rehab has developed a dedicated matching program to connect you to the right PSW.

Experience and Security

PSWs have a Diploma, Certificate in Personal Support Work, and/or R.N.A. Diploma from a community college, specialized training, and previous work experience.  Our PSWs are skilled in personal care and sensitive to client needs.  They compassionately, empathetically and patiently face rehabilitation challenges with clients daily. Many speak a variety of languages and are familiar with and sensitive to cultural norms. All Wright Rehab workers are interviewed and are subject to detailed reference and police checks.  We check that all associates are in full compliance for certifications, vulnerable sector background checks, peer review, client feedback and are participating in continuing education.  In addition, Wright Rehab has developed a proprietary development system that measures and guides PSWs to continually improve their service.
